Beckenbauer confirms Hargreaves will join Man Utd

Well Good news for Manchester United fans.

ngland international Owen Hargreaves will quit Bayern Munich and sign for Manchester United this summer, the German giant's president Franz Beckenbauer confirmed on Sunday.

After months of speculation, the 26-year-old midfielder, who has only played nine games for Bayern this season because of injury, will sign for the Manchester club in a deal believed to be in the region of 25 million euros.

No new big-name signings, says Chelsea's Kenyon

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said Sunday that the FA Cup winners would not be looking to make any major new signings during the close season.

However he said there would be some movement in and out of the club before the start of next season.

Chelsea secure Sidwell on free transfer

Deposed English Premiership champions Chelsea secured their first signing of the close season on Tuesday when they signed highly-rated defensive midfielder Steve Sidwell from rivals Reading on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old former England Under-21 international turned down a 25,000 pounds a week four year contract offer from Reading to join the recent FA Cup winners after his contract expires on July 1.

Cech says Liverpool loss a career lowpoint

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has described his team's defeat in the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool on penalties as the lowest point in his career.

"I am tired and disappointed. A semi-final defeat in such a competition always hurts. It is the biggest disappointment in my career," the Czech national keeper said in an interview with local media.
